Walgreens Walk Ambassador Letter 2013

Dear Co-Workers, Friends and Family,

My name is Liz Holt.  I am very honored to be this year’s Ambassador for the 2013 Brainerd Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes.  Diabetes runs in my family so it really hit home for me and the importance to find a cure.  My sister was diagnosed with Type 1 at the age of 2, that was 54 years ago.  My Father and Grandfather where also diagnosed with Type 2 later in life.  Growing up, I saw how tramatic and devastating it was on my sister and parents.  We have come a long way since 1959 but there is still work to be done in to find a cure.

This will be our 4th year participating in the walk with Team Walgreens.  Walgreens is commited to help people “Get Well, Stay Well and Live Well.”  Last year our team raised over $3,700 and had 26 Walgreens employees and family members join us.  This year our goal is to raise over $5,000!

We also had a really successful Spaghetti Dinner/ Silent Auction fundraiser with the help of many and this year we plan to have another-bigger and better.  The actual date not yet determined but we will keep you posted.

Team Walgreens would like to challenge you to participate in the walk in whatever way you choose. By walking and working together we can make a difference in the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

Please register online today at www.diabetes.org/brainerd and “Walk with Walgreens” on Saturday, October 5th, 2013 at the Paul Bunyan Trailhead in Baxter. We will see you at the walk!
