Looking for a diabetes camp in the Minnesota and Wisconsin area? Camp Daypoint and Camp Needlepoint are for kids between the age of 5-16 years old. Here is a personal story from one of our campers who has been attending Needlepoint for more than 4 years. Meet Ellen:
Hey, I’m Ellen! I’m 16 years old and have had diabetes for 14 years.
My situation is a little different; both of my younger brothers also have diabetes. It makes life a little crazy, but it’s nice to always have people around who get it. I’ve been going to camp since the summer before sixth grade and it’s my favorite place ever. It’s what I look forward to all year long! I love everything about Camp Needlepoint, it’s truly the greatest place I know! It’s where I met two of my best friends ever. It may seem a little scary at first, but most likely a lot of the campers feel the same way! And what makes it so cool is you all share something in common: diabetes.
A week is way too short of a time but that’s what keeps me coming back. The activities are all amazing, the games are super fun, and the counselors are my role models. My absolute favorite things about camp are the games and sailing. Hopefully after reading this you’ll want to have the same experience I had (and continue to have) at Camp Needlepoint!
Registration opens on February 1st! Find your session by visiting: www.diabetes.org/adacampneedlepoint
